Games history and is the title of the research project on the impact of entertainment media on knowledge of the medieval past, based at the University of Murcia.
“The video game phenomenon has become an everyday element in our society. The introduction of video games as entertainment elements widespread in today's society has made this one of the means of transmitting knowledge concerning with the greatest potential. The existence of a large number of titles with background of real or unreal appearance linked to the Middle Ages led to the users of these interactive games to become premier receivers in a complex series of multiple contents on the medieval period. These contents are exposed through very different means, ranging from the graphics to text (even the Musical), in order to achieve a perfect historical setting, and its incidence has made new European generations, current users of video game, perceived in a specific way the idea of what it was that time in the territories where they live, either by their plausibility, either by their veracity, or the recurrent use of the most common topics. The main objective is to use multidisciplinary perspective which is that of each of the proposed members of the international team to analyze the whole process as a whole and look at it from different points of view, both self-discipline of medievalism as language and speech reflexes that are defined in the communication process.”
